About the Event

Richard Handley is a prominent figure in Ojai., he is known for his long-time involvement with the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy, where he served as director & later as preserve manager. Handley championed local land preservation & conservation efforts from the 1980's to the 2000s. He was instrumental in early conservation efforts, such as founding the Besant Meadow Preserve Group, & later managing and caring for the Ojai Meadows Preserve & the Ventura River Preserve.


Richard Handley wrote an environmental novel ('The Hawks Are Not Dying') about these fascinating protection efforts, and their strong opposition. Richard Handley's novel will also give the reader a deeper understanding of Ojai's unique environmental and spiritual qualities. Richard Handley will offer a free copy of his novel to all participants of this event.
