THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CLIMATE JUSTICE & RACIAL JUSTICE
A PowerPoint presentation and conversation by Bill Gallegos, Environmental Justice leader
Time & Location
Sep 12, 2026, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM PDT
The Ojai Retreat, 160 Besant Rd, Ojai, CA 93023, USA
About the Event
Join us for a presentation and conversation about the relationship between racial justice and climate justice, especially in the face of federal government efforts to dismantle not only all efforts to confront climate change and transition to a clean energy society, but also the efforts to roll back all the gains of the civil rights movement. We will discuss the relationship between our country’s racial history and the environmental and climate crises we face today.
Some questions we will address:
1. Why racism is a major factor in the environmental and climate crisis in the US and the world.
2. What are some of the impacts we see in California, Ventura County that demonstrate these crises?
3. What does the resistance to the fossil fuel industrial complex and MAGA
on the issue of climate look like?
4. Why is it so important that environmental justice be at the center of our efforts to confront global warming and climate change.
5. What can we do about all of this?

Bill Gallegos, Environmental Justice leader will share a power point presentation on this topic and help guide our conversation. We look forward to seeing you all.
